Being able to work and live in the Portuguese Algarve is a dream come true. Next to my work as a professional Photographer it enables me to venture out with my camera in the beautiful countryside around my house in São Brás de Alportel. This rugged area is known as the Serra do Caldeirão and forms the border between the Algarve and Alentejo regions.
It surprised me how little this area is actually captured by photographers. The popular beaches and cliffs of the Algarve obviously draw more attention, but the Serra should not be underestimated. Next to its stunning vistas it is a region in development, and having its challenges on social, economical and ecological sustainability. This project and page is therefor my photographic tribute to the “Serra” and a continuous work in progress.
